Long-term Prevention of Peri-Implant Complications: Implant Maintenance & Home-Care

Susan has 40+ years in dentistry and now specializes in sorting through the science to develop protocols for healthy teeth, implants, & disease treatment. Published author; American and International journals on peri-implant therapy, regeneration, advanced instrumentation, and Textbook: Peri-Implant Therapy for the Dental Hygienist: 2nd Edition 2022, Wiley Oxford UK.

Abstract

To prevent peri-implant complications, professional in-office assessment, maintenance, and home-care recommendations are vital. For long-term implant success clinicians need to detect early signs of implant complications, diagnose any complications to provide early intervention and be able to perform professional in-office maintenance treatment. This course will follow the global healthy implant initiative for ceramic and titanium implants based on Susan’s Clinical White Paper: Long-term prevention of peri-implant complications and textbook: Peri-Implant Therapy for the Dental Hygienist: 2nd Edition.

Educational Objectives

  1. Learn the current research protocols, tools, treatments, and complications for long-term prevention of peri-implant disease
  2. Detect: Put into practice biofilm identification, five-step protocol to assess & monitor dental implants.
  3. Diagnose: Understand early intervention guidelines based on American Academy of Periodontology (AAP) peri-implant soft and hard deficiencies.
  4. Treatment: Biofilm-focused titanium and ceramic implant maintenance for all forms of implant-borne restorations / prostheses.

Oral Cancer - A Focus on Prevention

Dr. Ashley Clark is a Board-Certified Oral Pathologist currently serving as Vice President of CAMP Laboratory in Indianapolis, Indiana. She entered into private practice after nearly a decade in academia, serving at various times as Associate Dean, Residency Director, Division Head, Laboratory Director, and Associate Professor. She has published over 40 papers and abstracts, provided over 100 CE courses nationally and internationally, authored the oral pathology sections of both Dental Decks and Dental Hygiene Decks, and is on the professional board for Digital Dental Notes and Oral Cancer Cause. Abstract

Preventing squamous cell carcinoma should be a goal of all oral health care professionals. This course will provide the general dentists with information regarding oral potentially malignant disease and oral cancer. Topics discussed in depth will include leukoplakia and squamous cell carcinoma, with a focus on oral cancer prevention

  1. Discuss potentially malignant disorders of the oral cavity, specifically leukoplakia
  2. Determine an appropriate treatment plan for patients with leukoplakia
  3. Discuss how to help prevent squamous cell carcinoma in your patient population

A Fully Digital Surgical and Prosthetic Procedure for Full Arch Restorations-The NSequence Protocol

Andrew Rossi photoAndrew Rossi, DDS MSD - Periodontist, Perio Health Professionals

Dr. Rossi trained in periodontics at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Dentistry, receiving his Master of Dental Science in Periodontics and completing a one-year fellowship from the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. He also completed his Doctor of Dental Surgery at the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston. Dr. Rossi, who serves as a part-time dental professor at his alma mater, has specialized in periodontics since 2014. Dr. Rossi is an expert in regenerative periodontal therapy and soft and hard tissue reconstruction, having performed private practice clinical research in his office. His office, Perio Health Professionals in Houston, is a FDA supported research center and the flagship of the McGuire Institute, performing more clinical research than any other office in the country.

Abstract

The immediately loaded full arch restoration is one of the fastest growing segments in implant dentistry today. In this course we will examine a guided immediate loading full arch procedure with a digital workflow which includes both surgery and prosthetics, bringing the flexibility it brings to the same-day surgical and prosthetic phases.

  1. Learn to diagnose and treatment plan guided All-on-X and immediately loaded implant dentistry
  2. Detail the steps of a full arch guided prosthetics workflow on the day of surgery through delivery of a long term provisional
  3. Learn the science behind successful maintenance of implants in a hybrid prosthesis
