Who We Are

SWSP exists to promote excellence in education and the science of periodontology. Our society consists of periodontists from Arkansas, Texas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Louisiana.

The Mission of the Southwest Society of Periodontists is to serve its members in their specialty for quality health care and professional development.

SWSP has establish the following goals to guide our activities:

  • To be a premier resource for quality professional information and continuing education.
  • To facilitate membership growth, involvement and professional interaction.
  • To be a financially secure and efficiently managed and stable organization.
  • To be an advocate for the profession.

Dear District 5 Membership,

We are looking forward to seeing you in Miami Beach at the AAP Annual Meeting! While there, please make every effort to attend our very own town hall type of gathering at the District 5 Forum this Friday, November 5, 2021 from 12:15 PM – 1:45PM. It will be held in Ocean Drive E in the Miami Beach Convention Center.

This is a great opportunity for updates, input, and improvement. Please mark your calendars!

Also try to make the very collegial and informational General Assembly on Saturday, November 6 at 5:00 PM in Art Deco 229 A, B. We anticipate a wonderful meeting, and can’t wait to be back together with all of you!

Prichard Award Winners

The 2020 John F. Prichard Graduate Research Competition was an outstanding success once again. Fourteen abstracts were submitted from the University of Colorado, University of Colorado at Denver, Air Force Postgraduate Dental School, Louisiana State University, Texas A & M College of Dentistry, University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston, University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry, and UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry.
