Who We Are

SWSP exists to promote excellence in education and the science of periodontology. Our society consists of periodontists from Arkansas, Texas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Colorado, and Louisiana.

The Mission of the Southwest Society of Periodontists is to serve its members in their specialty for quality health care and professional development.

SWSP has establish the following goals to guide our activities:

  • To be a premier resource for quality professional information and continuing education.
  • To facilitate membership growth, involvement and professional interaction.
  • To be a financially secure and efficiently managed and stable organization.
  • To be an advocate for the profession.

Nominate someone for the SWSP Distinguished Service Award

The Distinguished Service Award is presented to a SWSP member who has willingly and unselfishly served to promote the mission of the SWSP and Periodontics over a period of not less than 20 years. The Mission of the Southwest Society of Periodontists is to serve its members in their specialty for quality health care and professional development.

The deadline for award nominations is May 15, 2024.

Prichard Award Winners

The 2022 John F. Prichard Graduate Research Competition was an outstanding success once again. Fourteen abstracts were submitted from the Air Force Postgraduate Dental School, Louisiana State University, Texas A & M College of Dentistry, University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston, University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry, and UT Health San Antonio School of Dentistry.
