Prichard Award

Guidelines for Participation

  1. Eligibility Requirements:
    • All postdoctoral students or graduates of the last twenty (20) months from any accredited program in periodontics will be eligible for competition. Research presented must have been performed within the first thirty-six (36) months following matriculation in the postdoctoral program.
    • Participants must certify credentials with the Chairman of the Subcommittee.
    • Participants must be SWSP Members: All applicants are required to have been a student member for at least 1 year during their residency during the time the research was performed.
    • The material presented in the John F. Prichard Prize for Graduate Research program may have been presented previously to other groups or submitted and/or accepted for publication.
    • An individual may participate only one time in the John F. Prichard Prize for Graduate Research Program.
  2. Abstract:
    • The abstract submitted must be submitted under single authorship.
    • No contributing graduate student(s) and/or advisor(s) may be listed as authors for the Program.
    • Subsequent publication in a suitable journal of the material presented during the John
    • Prichard Prize for Graduate Research Program, of course, allows the participant to credit authors of his paper in an appropriate fashion.
    • Only the participant named on the abstract and paper may present the paper during the competition, and only he/she may answer questions from the audience.
